Wildflowers Academy (WFA) is an inclusive, secular cottage school program that is dedicated to providing homeschooled children with opportunities to participate in fun, educational classes with peers of the same age range.  Wildflowers Academy is not intended to replace homeschooling done at home by parents and is not a school. WFA is a supplement to your homeschool, and it is up to you whether you count our classes towards your home education goals. WFA does not believe that grading children helps them grow thus does not offer grades for our classes. We want to help children explore, create, and learn to think for themselves.

Wildflowers Academy proudly welcomes ALL homeschoolers.  We offer one of the most affordable cottage programs in the Kentuckiana area, and have payment plans available.  WFA is the cottage school program of and fiscally supported by Kentuckiana Homeschool, Inc. WFA has served families from all around Kentucky and Indiana, including Louisville, Oldham County, Taylorsville, Elizabethtown, New Albany, Clarksville, Salem, Madison and Corydon.

You must be a member of Kentuckiana Homeschool, Inc. to register for classes!  You can become a member online at: https://khs-membership-fy2025-2026.cheddarup.com. Please do not contact Saint Andrew UCC with questions regarding Wildflowers Academy, as they will not be able to provide any answers.

Wildflowers Academy will meet at Saint Andrew UCC (2608 Browns Ln, Louisville, KY 40220) for 28 Tuesdays from 9:50 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.

In our classroom, Project-Based Learning (PBL) lets students work on real-world projects that spark their curiosity and excitement. For 4th and 5th graders, this approach makes learning fun and helps them develop important skills like problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork. We connect different subjects in each unit, so students see how everything around them fits together. PBL makes learning more meaningful and accessible and prepares them to face future challenges with confidence. I’m here to guide and support each student as they explore, grow, and thrive.

Middle Grades

Middle School

Typh Hainer Merwarth (Art)

In my art classroom, I strive to create an environment where students feel free to explore and express themselves creatively. I focus on fostering both divergent thinking and meaningful discussions, allowing students to confidently share and reflect on their art. My goal is to build a classroom of trust and respect, where every student is empowered to really delve into their work and the work of others. Throughout the year, students will experiment with a variety of 2D and 3D mediums, from watercolor and clay to pastels and paper mâché. I look forward to helping each student develop their unique artistic voice and celebrate their imaginative visions.

Welcome to Middle School Science! This year, we’ll explore molecular structures, chemical reactions, and core scientific principles while building a strong foundation for future chemistry studies. Through hands-on projects, we’ll dive into topics like energy, Earth science, and design thinking, all while connecting our learning to real-world issues. I’m here to help students develop a strong scientific vocabulary and understand how science and technology shape our world. Together, we’ll work on creative problem-solving and collaborative projects, making this year a journey of discovery and growth!

Middle School

Caroline Snyder (Language Arts)

In Middle School Language Arts, students will grow as writers, readers, and communicators. They’ll explore a variety of stories, sharpen their writing skills, and get comfortable with grammar, all while learning how to express themselves clearly and confidently. Along the way, students will dig into creative projects, dive into discussions, and practice presenting their ideas to the class. We’ll focus on teamwork, respect, and having thoughtful conversations that support everyone to learn and bloom where they are. By the end of the year, students will feel proud of their accomplishments and ready to take on new challenges in writing and communication.
